Which one is harder? To do what you don't like or give up something you love?
Think about this. Your health matters. You need to workout at least few times a week to stay healthy. But you don't like exercising. So, would you rather workout and keep fit, or just be lazy and don't do anything until you regret? I bet you chose the first option.
Let's move on and here's another case. Again, your health matters. You need to cut down on sweets and desserts. And fried chickens. You only have one job to do, and it is no sugar, no fried stuff. Do you think you can make that happen for at least one month? It's harder than you think, I tried that before and failed.
I have always thought why is it so hard for most of the people to give up, in other words, to put down what isn't right. At the same time, why so many people are able to give up so easily? In the end, I realized it's all about the process that matters. The process of giving up. It's something everyone should learn and not to learn.
There's once I am extremely fed up about myself in a particular aspect that I couldn't thrive. It gave me a feeling that I can never do it again. Devastated. Inclusive of some other external factors, I gave up. Obviously, it's not the first time I felt that way. "Failure is the key to success", they say. Well, it is easy to say, but people are giving up their dreams over and over again. Is it because they didn't "love" their dreams enough to not give up no matter what? Or because they just simply didn't work hard enough to match their dreams?
Before the time of giving up, there's loads of debate happening in my chaotic brain. "Should I give up? I'm so freakin dead in that thing. It just tears me down whenever I think about it!" "No, you shouldn't! You should just stand up and face it again! You can make it!"
Every single time I failed, those debates went through my brain again. Even till now, I don't know did I made the right choice. Will I succeed if I continued the journey? There's no way to find out anymore. But trust me, no path is perfect. There's joy and there will be downsides too.
In the end of the day, which one is harder doesn't matter. You just need to know that whatever you choose to do, it is your choice and even if you regret it, don't blame yourself. You cannot see the future and you cannot know for sure how the future looks like. Just note that when you're regretting about the pathway you chose, you might as well regret if you have chosen the other path that you regret not going now. It's just a 50/50 no-perfect option and just pick what you want at that moment of time. You'll learn something from it anyway.
